Our Story

One Kitchen, One Recipe, Since 1999

The family story behind every pot we simmer

  1. Hands pounding spices in a traditional stone mortar

    It Began in Grandma's Kitchen

It began in 1999, in a small wood-fired kitchen in Kuala Kangsar. That is where our grandmother pounded her spices, squeezed the coconut milk by hand, and gave every dish the time it needed. Nothing was ever written down. The recipes passed on by smell, by taste, by touch.

  2. A large pot of rendang slow-cooked over embers

    Faithful to the Old Ways

Today, we still cook the same way. Our rendang simmers for hours over a wood fire until dark and thick. Sambal is pounded every morning. We believe shortcuts only steal flavour, so we do not take them.

  3. A warm, welcoming village dining space

    A Home for Everyone

"Teratak" means a humble hut, a simple shelter full of warmth. That is what we want to offer: not just food, but the feeling of coming home to the village, where every guest is treated like family.
