Our Story

Not a Restaurant. A Teratak.

Since 1999 we have cooked one way only: over firewood. The rendang sits on the embers until it turns dark and thick. The sambal is pounded fresh each morning before we open. Fire is slower, and that slowness is the flavour.

"Teratak" is the Malay word for a humble hut, a simple shelter rather than a grand one. That is why we chose it. Come as you are, stay as long as you like, ask for more rice. Guests here are family, not customers.
